The Answers You Need

WHAT IS MICROBLADING?

Microblading is a manual technique of etching what looks like individual eyebrow hairs into the skin using a pigment color that matches your natural brow hair.  Microblading is considered a type eyebrow tattoo but the results last just 1-3 years.  You may prolong the look of your microblading with regular color boosts or allow it to fade to a shadow and eventually disappear.

DOES MICROBLADING HURT?

We use the very best anesthetics in the industry.  Our clients experience little to no pain.  At worst it feels like tweezing brow hairs but some clients actually feel zero pain at all and sleep while we work on them.  We start with a 20 minute pre-numb which allows us to gently open the skin and then apply a secondary anesthetic which for most people eliminates any further discomfort.

HOW WILL I LOOK IMMEDIATELY AFTER MICROBLADING?

The day of getting microblading you may notice very slight swelling or redness and the anesthetic leaves what looks like a white glow around the area... all this will disappear within hours.  In the days immediately following microblading your brows will appear about 30% darker than they will heal because the pigment is still on the surface.

WHAT IS THE AFTERCARE?

After each service we explain the aftercare instructions. Most importantly you will need to keep the area dry until the surface is healed, avoid picking at it which will disturb the pigment, and keep it free from dust and dirt. We customize the aftercare instructions based on your skin type and the service you receive.

DO WE SHAVE YOUR EYEBROWS OFF?

Absolutely not. We only remove hair that is outside your ideal eyebrow shape.

HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS LAST?

Microblading longevity varies based on the individual.  Most people should get 1-3 years out of their brows but very oily skin or very light colors tend to fade the fastest.  Wearing sunscreen when outdoors and avoiding the use of Retinol products can help prolong the look of your brows.  There is no exact science to how long it will last but as it fades you may choose to enhance them with makeup or come in for a color boost.

WHAT TYPE OF PIGMENTS DO YOU USE?

We use the absolute best pigment line on the market.  Not only is this the safest line of pigments, the colors are known to hold true over time and not change to unappealing colors like many other brands.  The pigments we use truly outperform all others.

WHY DO I NEED TWO APPOINTMENTS?

When you leave your appointment, your brows will look very bold and MUCH darker than they will end up. Throughout the week the color will fade drastically. Some customers may like that, while others prefer a more bold, structured look. It may appear at times that the pigment vanished-be patient. You may heal "spotty" the first time. The second appointment we assess the color, re-evaluate how your skin is reacting to the pigment and make any changes necessary. Additional touch up appointments may be necessary for customers with very oily skin, problematic skin, darker pigmentation or customers that did not follow after care procedures correctly. Microblading requires a minimum of two appointments.

WHAT SHOULD I DO BEFORE MY EYEBROW PROCEDURE?

  • If you regularly get your eyebrows shaped, waxed, threaded or tinted, please do so at least 3 days before your appointment. If there are any stray hairs that fall outside of our final shape, we can remove them, although it is not required.

  • VACATION If you plan to go on a vacation, it is recommended to plan your trip a minimum of 14 days after the procedure due to the aftercare maintenance.

  • MEDICATIONS We REQUIRE our clients to avoid any blood thinning medication for a minimum of 72 hours prior to their appointment. This includes Vitamin E, Aspirin, Niacin, fish oil supplements, and Ibuprofen.

  • ACCUTANE If you have been on prescription Accutane in the past, you MUST wait at least one year before considering this procedure.

  • SUN EXPOSURE It is highly recommended that you AVOID SUN and TANNING BED exposure for 30 days BEFORE and AFTER your procedure. If you show up for your appointment with a new tan or a sunburn, you will need to reschedule and will forfeit your deposit. As your skin exfoliates from a sunburn, it will take the pigment with it.

  • ALCOHOL We REQUIRE no alcohol consumption up to 24 hours before your appointment time.

WHO SHOULD AVOID MICROBLADING?

  1. Those prone to keloids or post-inflammatory hypopigmentation. Unfortunately, since microblading punctures the skin as we add ink, we cannot work with clients with these conditions.

  2. If you have a transmittable blood disease such as HIV or Hepatitis. Again, microblading artists cut the skin so it is our policy not to work with these conditions.

  3. If you’ve had Juvederm or other fillers in that area. Depending on the timing, we recommend to get microblading first! Otherwise, check with your doctor. Many artists may request a note from your doctor first.

  4. Patients undergoing chemotherapy. Although microblading is great for restoring eyebrows, we would require a doctor’s note in order to perform the procedure for anyone undergoing chemotherapy. Once you're cleared, however, microblading is a great solution for cancer survivors.

  5. If you have any kind of skin condition on or near your eyebrows. This includes eczema, shingles, rashes, or anything else near eyebrows.

  6. Those with oily skin. Those with very oily skin are unfortunately not good candidates for microblading. Those with less oily or combination skin, may consider a microblading plus shading combo.

  7. Those with a dark pre-existing eyebrow tattoo or permanent makeup. The tattoo or permanent makeup must be light enough for us to draw hairstrokes. We ask anyone with a previous eyebrow tattoo to send us an email with a picture of their eyebrows with no makeup on, so we can evaluate.

  8. Those with allergies to alcohol or numbing agents. If you think you might have an allergy to our ink, numbing cream, or alcohol (which is in the ink), then you may have a reaction to our work.

  9. Children. Microblading is for adults only! We do not recommend microblading for anyone under the age of 18.
